2009 has been a rather unusual year for everyone. What with Rob’s semester long exchange in France, our moving to Hong Kong, the Europe trip, Rosie and KY 3 months work stint in New York, things have been exceptionally quiet here in Park West.
Now that everyone’s back again, it felt as if we’ve never left. The familiar smell of Mom’s cooking wafting from the kitchen and the incessant chatter over dinner.
Singapore may not be as scenic as Switzerland, as whimsical as Venice, as steep in history as Florence or Rome, or as romantic as Paris. Nor is it vibrant as Hong Kong, idyllic as Taiwan or enigmatic as China. But Singapore is a lot more.
The blazing sun and the year end downpour, crowded trains and endless shoppers, Orchard Road Christmas light up, English books, kaya toast and kopi, cheap and good hawker grub, family, friends.
Singapore is home.
