The day’s finally here! The opening and preview of Jac Jac’s first show at the Peranakan Museum. It was a fun and engaging evening. The crowd, particularly the Nonya ladies were outlandishly dressed, and the buffet spread lip-smackingly good. Here are some pictures from the event. Enjoy =)
I know how much she loves what she does and how hard she had worked on this project. If you are reading this, just wanna say I am really proud of you.
Do drop by the museum to check out this visual feast of sumptuous textures and rich patterns of the timeless appeal of the sarong kebaya if you have the time!
SARONG KEBAYA
PERANAKAN FASHION AND ITS INTERNATIONAL SOURCES
1 April 2011- 26 February 2012
Peranakan Museum
39 Armenian Street
This is so cool! Will definitely visit the museum and bring along the 4 Peranakan musketeers of Colin who clueless except when it comes to kueh pie ti and Popiah :(
haha, well food is BIG part of a culture after all :P
the show’s appealing enough but not sure if it’ll appeal to boys, or rather younger visitors. may be a little informative or ‘wordy’ for their appreciation. but the rest of the permanent gallery is very interesting though, featuring daily artifacts and lifestyle of older generation of Peranakan families in the Straits area. you get to see jewellery, antiques, the Tok Panjang table setting, weddings and funerals set-up etc. a good idea to bring them there i think. :)
congrats to jac jac!!
btw i just want to say i am sooo happy to see the “new” you!!
you look very fetching in your kebaya and with your growing belly!!
thanks Serinah on behalf of my sis!
haha, the kebaya is a borrowed item from the curator, who else?! ;p can’t really see belly from this pic. maybe another shot some time later, hee. :D
I love the pic of the four of you :)
