1 AUGUST 2013
When the dust from all the birthday bonanza has settled, on your actual birthday, we went about the day in a most ordinary fashion. Mommy woke up bright as a button, we got dressed and went for our weekly Thursday art class. Daddy couldn’t take leave on that day and Poh Poh and 二姨 decided they couldn’t let you spend a “lonely” birthday so we arranged to meet at Vivo City for lunch.
We went to check out the kiddo train while waiting for our lunch date to arrive. You couldn’t quite believe your eyes at the sight of the colourful locomotive right in front of you and turned to give me an uncertain but excitable grin. I can imagine it must have been a real awesome encounter, that the train must have looked HUGE to your 2 year old’s eyes and little mind! There weren’t any other potential passengers around so the train driver was taking a chill pill a short distance away and you were allowed to caress, explore, climb and admire it to your heart’s content. It took some convincing and a promise to return after lunch before you were willing to leave that place..
We had wanted to try the newly opened Jamie’s Italian but it doesn’t open till noon and we couldn’t wait so we hopped over to Poulet where we enjoyed some nice roast chicken, sandwich, soup and salad while you tucked into fries and ketchup– the only thing in the entire menu that you would eat!– happily. Like your 二姨 said, it’s your day so you get to indulge! Look at your greedy little face! In case you are wondering, cuzzy Travis was taking a nap in the stroller when the group pic was taken.
What could be more apt than a ride on the cute little train to complete your 2 year old Choo Choo theme. You were absolutely THRILLED when you climbed into one of the mini carriages and couldn’t stop grinning from ear to ear. You were so busy clamouring up and down the bench, looking out and sitting down, it was a really cute and funny sight. Thankfully your 二姨 was around to help us take some nice pics and a short video. I just love this picture of us sooooo much!
After the ride, we hang around for more photo opportunities and these are some of the treasures from that day. You were always so happy and affection towards your little cousin that the second pic of him looking mildly perturbed is proof of your over enthusiasm. :D
And these pictures remind me so much of the ones taken a year ago, except that you’ve grown longer and you were kissing 二姨 this time round. :)
And Gong Gong made his guest appearance by taking you out for ice cream after you woke from nap that afternoon. He couldn’t wake in time to join us for lunch (?!?) but the truth was also because he couldn’t handle a full length meal with your overly active and temperamental 2 yo self so he opted for a quick and fun icy treat with you instead, hehe!
Daddy came back in time from work to put you to bed that night. We went about your usual bedtime routine of bath, tickles on bed, stories, milk, lullabies before you drifted off to sleep. You certainly had no idea what transpired that day many years from now so all these pictures will help bring back wonderful memories of the day.
My little soldier in full army gear on the day he turned 2, gotta be one of Mommy’s all time fav shot with you! Stay happy and stay strong my little guy. Doesn’t matter when you are 12, 22, 32…52, you will always be my bestest boy!
Love and kisses,
